Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Video and Written Review

Here is the video review folks! Just like I promised. Keep in mind that the quality won't be the best but I tried to make it the best I could. This is my first video review so don't expect perfection.. Enjoy.

REVIEW:When I first heard that they were going to have these two completely different worlds collide.. well I was very confused about how they would pull it off. After playing through the story mode I am very pleased at how they explained the reason for them to meet. Although some of the dialogue is a bit cheesy. I wish they could have made the story mode a little longer but I am happy with what they have. The Arcade mode is pretty similar to what you are used to. Fight up the ladder to the boss and defeat him. Each character has a unique ending telling you what they did after winning.

The fighting system is really interesting. They have included 3 different fighting mechanics. There is the Free Fall Kombat, Klose Kombat and Test Your Might. In Free Fall Kombat you have to hit the opponent and fill the meter to the left so you can do a special. Each character has a unique special. Superman shoots his laser, Subzero freezes the opponent and knocks them to the ground and Batman throws his batarang into the opponents chest. Klose Kombat is where you have to press the same button the opponent pressed to counter out of it. There are unique animations for each character fo this too. Test Your Might is redesigned and really looks amazing. The goal is to button mash and try to give the opponent as much damage as you can. While you do this the opponent button mashes to try and avoid as much damage that he can. Rage mode can also be considered one but it seems useless to me especially against humans who know better to just run away. I would rather save up my rage meter and use it for 2 combo breakers. Along with these elements you have the basic MK fighting system with special moves.
They went a little bit extra and added Pro moves where you combine some special moves in a certain sequence to make a combo. You can learn to perform these through the Kombo Challenge. I must warn you that these are not very easy to pull off. There are a couple that are easy but most of them are difficult. When you complete all the combos for a character you get an achievement for it.
I didn't get a chance to include Fatalities and Heroic Brutalities in my video review but some of them are great while most of them are not so great. My personal favorite is one of Batman's heroic brutalities where... well why don't you just watch it. This is a video I got from youtube and it wasn't recorded by me.

In terms of graphics I really like the way they portrayed the DC characters. You won't be able to see the crisp look with the S-Video version I have but if you see it in HD then you will know what I am talking about. The characters get damage done to their suit and bodies as the fight goes on. I love how if Scorpion takes a lot of hits you see his skull under the mask.
The game has its pros and cons but there are a bit more cons. The story mode has a very good feel to it but I feel like it could have been a bit longer. The biggest problem with this game is lasting appeal. It has a tendency of being left alone after beating the story mode. This game is definitely worth a rent and I highly recommend it if you are a MK fan. Just look beyond the missing excessive gore and pay attention to the fighting.
