REVIEW:Now when I say that I don't mean using a 360 or PS3... I really mean to play the game The Da
rkness. I recently picked up this game two days ago on June 26th. I really enjoy playing this game so I am going to do a review for you guys.

The game begins with a very great mixture of an in game cut scene and credits. The credits continue to go on even after the cut scene is finished. The way they did this was very clever and it made it look like you were watching a movie. Then after that you are ready to roll. The thing that makes this game so much fun is the fact that you can beat a level in many different ways. The overall story of this game is to get revenge. Its you're 21st birthday and what better way to celebrate it then try to blow you up? Uncle Paulie your boss or who WAS your boss tries to murder you. Now you have to take him, his thugs and the cops on his payroll down which is impossible for just one ordinary mobster. But when all hope is lost you acquire the power of darkness. Two serpents who are the physical form of the darkness appear on your shoulders.

The controls for this game is very simple. Your default weapon are dual handguns but you get more guns as you go on with the game. You can shoot each gun separately by pressing the left trigger to fire the left gun and right trigger for the right gun. The graphical detail is very cool, the great thing that really adds to the darkness feel is the realism of your shadow. The duck and shooting mechanics isn't like gears of war but it is still pretty cool. When you go up to a wall Jackie will point his guns up sideways. So you can walk a little bit out to the left and as the wall blocking his left hand is out of the way he points it straight and you can now press the left trigger to fire his left gun. Guns aren't the only thing Jackie Esticado has in his arsenal. He also has his Darklings that he can summon to take out enemies. There are four different ones; Beserker, Gunner, LightKiller and Kamikaze. If you don't feel like in the mood for using Darklings and are out of bullets you can use dark powers. You have Creeping dark which you use to send a snake out to search an area for enemies or kill enemies by biting their face off. Then you have Demon arm which you can use long tentacle arms. Also there is the Darkness Guns which are special guns you can use. Lastly you have the Black Hole which is very useful because you can make a vortex and suck up a horde of enemies or just watch enemies struggle to hold on to something. As I play through the game I start to find out that the lights are more of your enemies then the humans. You sometimes have to stay in a room and blow out all the lights to gain more dark power. But this isn't required unless you want to use those powers, you can always just use guns. The multiplayer isn't as great as the single player, I enjoy the single player a lot more. Don't expect to be playing the multiplayer a lot because with the limited maps it can get boring.
To sum things up The Darkness is a very cool adventure. Being a badass has never been so pleasing and satisfying. The presentation is amazing, the scenery and mood is good. The music is cool and adds to the action and the voice acting is amazing. If you like to play FPSs and have a very evil mind then you will enjoy this game.
Out of 10 I will give this game an:
8.5
