You can't teach an old dog new tricks
I had assumed that Nintendo was not going to patch any of it's existing games to be compatible, but maybe I'm pessimistic. Pessimism, however, wins out it this case because it has been confirmed that there will be no update for preexisting software on the Wii. The Representative for Nintendo told Gamespot that there will even be some future games that don't implement the new device, and will be played the standard way, not that thats a horrible thing. I predict that being down by 3rd parties and shovelware honestly, but we'll see. Check out the full article here.

Hopefully WM+ doesn't go the way of Wii Speak and the balance board. Nintendo is the king of making really cool things and never using them beyond 1 game. :/
